A New Tool for Measuring Performance

Why a new “performance review” tool?
And why now?
The answer to those questions is simple – as technology advances, opportunities arise, and seldom has a technological advance created more opportunities than the arrival of “artificial intelligence,” or A.I.
And seldom has a time-honored business practice required enlightened innovation more than the dreaded process associated with performance reviews.
Managers hate this process because they have to re-align their concentration, from a primary focus on the present and future to a frustrating look into the rearview mirror. And then, of course, they must write some kind of an acceptable review that informs without discouraging.
Employees hate it because it inevitably encapsulates a complex series of events into a few cursory observations that so often fail to capture a meaningful (or useful) conception of the past, regardless of whether the time frame considered is a month, a quarter, or a year.
How do we render these maligned critiques more facile in their creation and more beneficial in their use?
We think it’s done by compiling meaningful evaluations as they occur, preserving them for future consolidation, and then turning A.I. loose on that compilation to compose a literate “first draft” of a performance review. And the current sophistication of A.I. generative capabilities means that such a draft might be close to a polished final version.
Put simply, at Garnet River we’ve come up with a theme, and developed a product – and we believe we’ve found a solution to the challenge posed by performance reviews. By emphasizing contemporaneous collection, and employing A.I. for literacy and consistency, we see a new era at hand for the task of employee evaluation.
